False Teeth: Costs, Cleaning, Alternative, and PicturesDentures are removable false teeth made of acrylic (plastic), nylon or metal. They fit snugly over the gums to replace missing teeth and eliminate potential problems caused by gaps.
Gaps left by missing teeth can cause problems with eating and speech, and teeth either side of the gap may grow into the space at an angle.
Sometimes all the teeth need to be removed and replaced.
Types of Denture-
complete dentures (a full set) – which replace all your upper or lower teeth, or
partial dentures – which replace just 1 tooth or a few missing teeth
Implant supported denture- these are dentures which are anchored by dental implants. A dental implant is a permanent fixture that is anchored to the jawbone and can be used to replace any number of teeth. They’re comprised of the implant itself, a metal post (usually titanium), and a custom crown which looks just like a natural tooth.
Procedures involved in placing dentures-

Step 1 – First Appointment
We will take a look at your gums and any remaining teeth to assess your suitability for dentures
Once you are ready to get started we will take an impression/mould of your mouth which will be used to create the base of your new dentures.
Step 2 – Second Appointment
At this visit wax models are placed in the mouth to establish where your teeth meet. We also register your bite and orientation for the teeth on your new denture. Our team will help you to select the size, shape and shade of the teeth for your new denture.
Step 3: Try-In
At this appointment you will see the mockup/trial of your denture.  The teeth you selected at the start will be set up in wax and ready to present and try in as the trial. While it wont fit you well at this point as it is made in wax. This will give you a great opportunity to see what your denture will look like before it is finished.
At this stage you can decide if you like the way everything looks or you can use this as an opportunity to make changes.
Once you are happy with how the denture looks it will be sent to our lab to create your final denture.
Step 4: Final Fitting
In this stage some minor adjustments to allow the new denture to bed in.
Over the next few days or even weeks, you may need to come back for some easing or adjustment as you get used to the new dentures. Remember they will fit you in places that your old dentures no longer fit so it is perfectly normal to need to come back.
If for any reason you don’t feel you need to come back then we will book you anyway for a review appointment at 6 weeks from your fitting.

Do’s-

FAQS-

Is It Important to Remove Dentures at Night?
you should remove your removable denture at night, as this allows your gums to stay healthy. Also, you benefit from better oral hygiene, and your prostheses remain in better condition.

How often can I get my denture replaced?
Replace your dentures every 5-7 years for proper fit and appearance. Denture teeth can wear down and stain faster than natural teeth, and tissues in your mouth may change over time.

How painful is getting dentures?
When you’re first fitted for new dentures, it’s normal to experience minor irritation, which should fade as your mouth becomes accustomed to them. The period of pain varies. If you’ve previously worn dentures and now have a new set it may take longer.
